Welcome Frankie. Share Houdini
We’re psyched to welcome FRANKIE on the EXAG’ fam and share with you today their new single ‘Houdini’ taken from upcoming new EP due to out October 27th.
Frankie the band who ignored producing music until they build their own record machine in an old Mitsubishi workshop in Brussels, Belgium. In these headquarters they work on multiple things such as Bloody Sausage Restaurants, miserable theater performances and various musical and video-graphic side projects. In this gray workplace the band lives its own life. Frankie consists of stubborn individuals who try to work together from time to time, trying to steer the ship in the right direction without a captain.
Frankie the band, is not to be confused with Frankie The Theatre monsters, or the creators of those monsters, or the monsters of those monsters… but they both exist on the same wave-length, the sample sick, twisted surreal dimension that you may enter and get lost in.. goodbye! Safee journey into the vortex listener.
Following previous releases, a cassette of their last production “Laguna Beach” (2019) ,,, a strange Covers Vol. 1 and possibly a million other things released in small batches to small crowds, in small bars with tall beers. The team come to bring back the true horror of garage rock, not in a summer spring break party, ignoring the sorrow and pity and covering it all up with silly sombreros , hot dogs and other American flavoured fast foods.
This is the real deal, hits direct from the tin can but not watered down for the dumb-eared public, the Frankie must demands more, check out their new video for “Houdini” and see a masked figure stumble his way through a Korean neighbourhood,
Musically its more majestic that you’d expect, think not-quite-Queen cabaret but if it came from early 90s Crypt Records Memphis roaster (Oblivions, The Gories etc) there is something about them that could recall easy-going nostalgic hits from history of rock The Make-Up, The Nation Of Ulysses but if they were in collaboration with The Mothers of Invention, less silly Monty Python, more Francis Bacon on the plate…fried, crispy…burnt, black, tasty,
Breakfast: most important meal of the day…
The album made, recorded in the L.I.A.R lab (please see current theatre show for more details) perhaps its the real deal? Perhaps its all post-modern fakery, but its better than most shit real or unreal…just listen and get on with it…life that is.
Their live shows are dangerous and deranged, their microphones more cracked and dust web covered than Dan Melchior, Billy Childish and Ben Wallers combined.
