Mek’Dr’Dr join EXAG’ fam and share new single Densdensdens

Mek'Dr'Dr is a Brussels-based duo consisting of Mien Heyvaert (vocals, bass) and Sara De Wit (vocals, percussion). With groovy basslines as their foundation, they craft a minimalist post-punk sound, playfully adorned with tight rhythms squeezed chaotically from car brake discs and IKEA salad bowls.

In 2022, in the creative melting pot of Werkplaats Walter (Kuregem), Mek'Dr'Dr was born. Their sound is a playful exploration of human connections, societal norms, and the absurdities of life.
Inspired by the ugliness of Flemish ribbon development, the early morning rush in local cafés, and the DIY spirit of bands like Young Marble Giants and The Slits, they have created a charmingly danceable sound.

Their debut EP ‘No Safer Place Than a Toilet Sea’  due out May 9th via EXAG’ Records, is a wild ride through themes of love and empathic activism. Each of the five tracks invites listeners to embrace imperfection, question societal norms, and find comfort in chaos. Thanks to collaborations with Milan Van Doren (mixing) and Frederik Tack (mastering), the EP captures the band's raw, danceable energy, reminiscent of post-punk legends such as Au Pairs and ESG.

Live, Mek'Dr'Dr brings chaos and unexpected twists.
With a growing fan base and upcoming shows at venues like AB Club and Brasserie Illegaal, they are carving out a unique place in the post-punk scene.

Slipping is dancing too, my friend!

Get ready to dive into the tension-filled world of Mek'Dr'Dr with their track *Densdensdens*! This electrifying post-punk anthem captures the thrilling yet awkward moments of a new connection, blending gritty basslines, clattering percussion, and raw, chant-like vocals. Inspired by the minimalist grooves of Young Marble Giants and the feminist fire of The Slits, *Densdensdens* is a danceable exploration of uncertainty, irritation, and the chaotic beauty of human relationships. Perfect for fans of Billy Nomates and Au Pairs, this track will make you question, laugh, and move your feet. Don’t miss this bold debut from one of Brussels’ most exciting new acts!
