Phoenician Drive is a six piece band formed in Brussels in 2016 with the intention to make drums and fuzz guitars meet with oud, rek and other Eastern percussions. In the footsteps of earlier East-West musical blendings from 70’s like Erkin Koray or Orient Express, and under the influence of the German kraut-rock scene (Neu!, Can, Faust, ...), Phoenician Drive went searching for hypnotic transe based on distorted oriental grooves. In 2017 their debut EP ‘Two Coins’ on EXAG’ (EU) and Stolen Body Records (UK) and got a particular attention on the rock & world music scenes. Then in 2018 Phoenician Drive released their self-titled début LP on Exag Records & SK Records and also got the opportunity to collaborate with the renowned Belgian choreographer Wim Vandekeybus who asked them to write the score for his last show ‘Trap Town’. In April 2019 after touring for 2 years non stop the band decided to take a step back and work on an acoustic live set in order to reach back to the very roots of their approach and revisit their songs. They presented their first acoustic set in Brussels in July 2019, and will tour exclusively acoustic in 2020, preparing their next electric LP to come out in 2021.
